On January 9th, 2026, we hosted Hoops & Scoops in conjunction with Shepaug Basketball’s Rivalry Night. Our goal was to educate students and community members on problem gambling, while sharing ice cream with the 200+ people in attendance. We were grateful to have Jeff McKenna from the Western CT Coalition share his expertise. Jeff has also held small group discussions with some of our high school students on this topic.

In December 2026, we focused on disseminating information to the community about the 988 suicide & crisis lifeline. Students were able to decorate ornaments and obtain information at our booth at SVS’s Annual Holiday Bazaar, community members were mailed an educational postcard describing the differences between 988, 911, and 211, and our organization donated $500 worth of gift cards to families in need of additional support during the holidays.

On June 1st, 2025, we hosted a Community Discussion: Understanding and Countering the Effects of a Digital Childhood. This discussion was centered around “The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. Thank you to John Simoncelli from Greenwoods Counseling & Referrals for guiding our discussion and helping us to reflect on our own practices.
